This past Thursday night was our biggest game of the season, the Crosstown Showdown. We played Guyer High School, which is also in the Denton school district. They are a great team, but not as good as ours. :) They are #2 ranked in 4a in North Texas, and were undefeated this year. This game was going to be so big that they changed the night of the game, so it could be broadcast live on FoxSports. The game lived up to it's hype! The stadium (holds 12,000) was as crowded as it's ever been for a high school game, and it was packed. It's really hard to describe the feeling that night, but it was definitely electric. All in all it was a great game!! We pulled out an awesome win with a final score of 50-29!! We are now tied with Guyer as the #1 team in our district. We move onto the playoffs starting next week! Several area sports writers are predicting that we will be matched up against Guyer again in 4 weeks for the State Semi-Final game. We shall see!
Also this week was the Senior Pep Rally. The senior parents of football, cheer, drill team and band got together to dance for the pep rally, and surprise their kids. Tayler was supposed to be "helping" put this together, but the other girls flaked out, so she ended up pretty much doing it all alone. She put together the music, she choreographed the dance, and spent 2 hours a night for 2 weeks teaching it to the parents. She did an amazing job!!

There were tons of parents
This is Asa and his mom Denise, who danced for the pep rally wearing Asa's jersey! (and also Sweetness in the hat)

Before the big game, we had a tailgating party! Mrs. Baird's had a "truck" come out to cook hamburgers and hot dogs. I was trying to picture a bread truck that was able to cook. When Mom, Dad and I got there, this is what we saw....
This is the front half...the black part is a gigantic smoker, the screen you see was playing music videos
This is the back half, where you can see the guys cooking over the open grill
These are pictures from the game...
I have photographic proof that Asa (#40) is ALWAYS the first player to run through and break the banner!
