Kaylin's Christmas program

Kaylin is in the 4th grade this year, and her grade had a Christmas performance. Bryan was out of town that night, but the girls and I made it down to her school to surprise her!

Kati's Providence Christmas celebration

The night after the last playoff game, Providence (our neighborhood) had their annual tree lighting ceremony. It was complete with Santa's village and horse-drawn carriage rides through the 'hood to look at Christmas lights. I was still frozen from the game, so I stayed inside while Kati met up with some friends for the festivities.

They couldn't fit all of their friends, so Kati just sat on their laps

I tried to get their picture as they passed our house, but my flash went on the fritz (you can see Kati's hand in the white glove waving)

Christmas decorating

I'm trying to play catch up on blogging since everyone is gone here.

So we had to decorate the house for Christmas this year without Bryan and Kaylin. Bryan's schedule has been crazy busy this month, and so has Kaylin's.

The girls, along with their boyfriends Asa and Taylor decorated this year. It was an interesting, and funny experience!

Kati explaining how to decorate the tree just right...

and laughing because they don't agree with her perfection

I'm sure she was re-hanging something Tayler had just put on

Cheese!

Tayler gave up on the tree and decorated the rest of the house

Kati was getting frustrated with the boys - who didn't see her vision

Tayler finished the tree by putting the Angel on

Final playoff game....

On December 5th, Denton Ryan played their final playoff game of the season. We went up against our hometown rivals, Denton Guyer. We had played them a few weeks earlier during the regular season, and won that game. This time, they would win. It was the State Quarterfinals for 4A, on a very cold and windy December day. You have to love high school football in Texas!

It was also a historical game. It was the first time that 2 schools from the same town/school district met this deep into the playoffs. A lot of these boys on both teams are friends, have grown up together, and played together for most of their lives (Guyer has only been open for 5 years, so a lot of these kids went to school together earlier in their lives). It was definitely a "can't miss" game. Our football stadium holds 12,000 people, and the crowd was so large, they put in extra seating in the endzones, allowing for 3,000 more people.

**Also, our Quarterback, Scotty Young, was recently named Gatorade State Player of the Year for Texas.

He was also just announced as the Texas Associated Press Sports Editors Player of the Year. This is the top honor, as the nominees are from the entire state of Texas, no matter the division (2A, 3A, 4A, & 5A).

He will be at Texas Tech next year, and I'm sure we will all be hearing his name for years to come!!

I couldn't get Kati to look at me...

And when I did....this is what I got.

Tayler was a little more camera ready.

Football players, cheerleaders, and the drill team - waiting for the game to start

Before the game they did something that was really good to see. They had every single player from both teams come out holding hands and meet in the middle. They then had them all shake hands with each other. It was a reminder to them that even though this was a big rivalry game, that at heart we were all from the same town, and win or lose - they are both amazing teams.

Now they are ready to play...

Kati sure was cold!

Tayler was too - but had her letterman on!

Asa getting ready to play (#40)

He was pumped!!

Ready to attack

Scotty Young (#10) waiting for the call....

So that was the end of our 2009-2010 football season. We ended with a 9-1 record for the season, and a Regional Championship. We really do have an awesome football program all around, and they are fun to watch. I can't wait for next season!
