Dance Competition

Saturday the 30th, the Strutters competed in the Showtime International Winter Classic dance competition in Keller, TX. The girls have been working very hard to get ready for this competition!! They had 3 routines, a team jazz, team military, and team pom. The officers also performed 3 routines, as well as 2 specialty routines. It was a very long day. Our "Strutter Convoy" left Denton at 6:45am, and we left Keller at about 9pm. But it was a great day watching the girls work really hard, and be rewarded for it!

Tayler had a long day as well, as she went with us, but had to leave around 3pm to head back to Ryan for the final performance of Bye Bye Birdie. The 2 female leads are our Captain and Lt. Captain, so they and Tayler, along with 2 other Strutters all had to leave early to go perform.

At the awards ceremony at the end of the night, the girls were awarded 21 trophies and plaques. I can't remember all of the awards they got, there were just too many! I will have a list tomorrow though, as I have to get it to the local paper. Some that I do remember are: Team Grand Champion, Team Sweepstakes trophy, Officer Sweepstakes trophy, Officer Circle trophy, Jazz Ensemble Best in Show. I will post the full list when I get it.

Here are some pictures from the day.....as well as the videos of the 3 routines. You can click on any of the pictures and it opens them larger, so you can see better.

Kati & Bryan on their way in (notice Kati's house shoes with her military costume)

Waiting for their turn to perform the first routine - the Team Military (Kati is 3rd in line...looking a little nervous)

The 3 team performances are done, and some of the girls were across the gym in the bleachers - looking a little tired.

Bryan went over to their side and got above them to take their pictures...

No matter how tired they are, they always have a smile!

Such camera hams

Taylor (who earned mega good boyfriend points for spending the entire Saturday there supporting Kati) and Kati

Haley & her mom Tawnya (and Sheila doing who knows what, and Kati studying her candy)

The typical Kati face

Ben (our Director Cassie's husband) - pretty much showing how we all felt

Haley & Kati

The girls after the awards ceremony - with their haul

Another shot - look how happy they are!

Getting goofy - letting off some steam!

Kati (and her house shoes made a return appearance) & Haley and their Grand Champion trophy, which is literally almost as tall as them!

Don't break it Haley!

In case you were wondering what to do with the cup trophies...

Our wonderful, very hard working, very proud, and very pregnant director Cassie Mayer (and her husband Ben...who is the most supportive!)

Haley & Kati imitating some girls from a dance school who were there, and kept making a very exaggerated face during their routines (ohh...you can see one behind them even)

Taylor & Bryan - end of a long day (they are the best!!!).

Here are the girls before starting their jazz routine (Kati is on far left)

Girls before their Military routine

Here is their Jazz routine. Kati is in the back, if you look at the "H" on the stands - she is right even with the left arm of the H. Later when they are in a triangle formation, she is on the far left back.

This is their Military Routine. Kati is just to the left of the H. It's hard to hear the music, you have to turn it up all the way to hear it. It's a pretty cool piece called "The Pentagon", from the movie Flight 93.

This is the Team Pom routine. She is on the back right hand side, 4th from the right. Later in the routine, when they are doing the pom pass, she is standing on the back row - on the end on the right.

Bye Bye Birdie

Tayler is in her schools Theatre Departments production of Bye Bye Birdie. She is in the chorus, and is a "sad girl". The performances started this past weekend and run through this coming weekend. She is doing an awesome job!! She is pretty nervous on stage, as she has never been there before, but is working through it very well.

You aren't supposed to take pictures during, or record any of the performance. Luckily, Tayler's boyfriend Asa is a rebel and did just that. :) He got 1 picture at the very end, and he managed to record her Sad Girl number.

Noel (she plays the lead...Rose Alvarez), Tayler, Becky (chorus, sad girl), Mrs. Jones (asst. Strutter director and choreographer for the musical), Maggie (Kim Macafee), and Audrey (chorus). These are the Strutters who are also in the musical. Noel and Maggie play the 2 lead parts, and happen to be the Lt. Captain and Captain of the Strutters.

Strutter Competition performance

The girls will be going to competition on January 30th. Monday night, they performed their routine in public for the first time, at a Ryan Basketball game. Below is the video.

Kati starts out at about the 11:00 position. Towards the middle when they are in rows, she is on the very back row, 2nd from the left.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

We hope everyone had a happy and safe Christmas. We look forward to the upcoming year and all of the blessings it will bring. We love you all!

Christmas with my family

We had Christmas with my family on Saturday the 26th. Bryan had to leave for work that morning, so he wasn't there. The girls had to go with their dad that day also, so they were only there for about 2 hours. But, it was a nice day with the rest of the family. We all gathered at Tonya and Jay's house.

Me and the girls (mom always gets us with food)

My nieces Mandie and Jessica

Christmas Day at our house

Christmas morning at our house was nice. We didn't have Kaylin this year, so it was just the 4 of us. I was wide awake at about 6am and could not go back to sleep. So Bryan and I got up, before the girls. We came out to the living room and waited for the girls to wake up. I turned on the tv and made as much noise as I could. :) They finally woke up about an hour later and came downstairs.

The girls discovering that Santa brought them a gun (Walther PPK) and a Wii

Scary isn't it??

Harley asking Santa where his presents are

Tayler likes her new Abercrombie bag

Kati likes her new "Uncle Eddie" hat

Hagen gave up and went back to sleep in his bed in the middle of the mayhem

The girls checking out their new laptops

Kati in her new hat, new vest, and new slipper boots - always the fashion statement

Tayler likes it!

Kati does too!

Harley wants some attention
